The first meeting of the 2022-23 Spanish Culture Club revolved around the food culture of Argentina. Students discussed what typical cuisine one might find in the Argentine Pampas amongst the gauchos and they learned about the tradition of drinking and sharing yerba mate, a special tea unique to Argentina. To end class, they talked about the history of empanadas. Prior to the meeting, students prepared their own fillings and dough. Students received a recipe in both Spanish and English for a traditional empanada filling from the Mendoza region of Argentina (although students were invited to pick their own filling for their own dietary needs).

Look at how each student folded their own empanadas and their end result! The results were very impressive!
