The Well-Trained Mind Academy provides live, online middle and high school classes for homeschoolers, afterschoolers, and anyone looking to provide quality, custom education for their student.

At the Well-Trained Mind Academy, students can take online classes based on classical pedagogy in all of the core subjects. We also offer a variety of electives to further diversify knowledge and expand a student’s education. Our courses are taught by seasoned educators with a passion for helping students excel, and our administrative team is committed to working with families to create an educational environment that fits each family's educational and lifestyle needs.

Our Teaching Methodology
Our time-tested methods teach your student to express ideas clearly and to engage thoughtfully with the world. Our teaching methods are based on the three-part classical pattern of training the mind, called the trivium. At the heart of our curriculum is our mandate to teach students how to learn, so that they may leave WTMA with the motivation to pursue knowledge their whole lives.

Training the Mind

Students begin their studies by learning the foundations of a subject.

Questioning and argumentation (logic skills) follow.

Self-Expression

Finally, students are taught how to express their own ideas about their subjects.

All of our instructors have years of experience in teaching, tutoring, homeschooling, or a combination of all three, giving them a well-rounded educational approach.

Since we do not follow a rigid, common core curriculum, our educators are also able to engage students in the things they find most interesting while continuing to build their knowledge on foundational materials that will serve them in higher education and life beyond.

Live, Online Courses

Our Live, Online Courses are one of the key features that makes us unique. This format allows students to engage with the instructor, fellow students, and course materials in real time.

Our Delayed Lecture sections allow students unable to attend live class sessions to participate in our classes. This program is especially helpful for international students, afterschoolers, and students in distant American time zones.

Accreditations

WTMA is a fully accredited learning services provider. We are accredited by the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS). Our core high school courses are approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). We also offer the Global Seal of Biliteracy and several Advanced Placement courses.
