We are currently hiring for the following positions.
The Well-Trained Mind Academy is seeking part-time instructors to teach live, online writing and literature sections. We currently have one section of Reading for the Logic Stage III and its delayed section (managing students who watch the class recording), and two sections of Expository Writing II. Reading for the Logic Stage III is a literature course for 7th and 8th grade students. Expository Writing II is a core writing class for students typically in 7th, 8th, or 9th grade.
Part-time instructors teach 1-6 sections of 12-15 students each. Qualified and interested instructors will be considered for additional courses in their fields of expertise. Online teaching experience required; experience working with students taking their first online course is a plus. Must be comfortable working with a small focused team, taking academic direction, and cooperating with other writing and literature instructors.
This position is part-time; instructors are hired on a course-by-course basis. Instructors should have a bachelor’s degree in the humanities. The ideal candidate has experience working with students aged 11-15. Part-time instructors can live anywhere in the United States; all classes are offered during regular business hours in the Eastern Time Zone. The classes are currently being offered at the following times: Reading for the Logic Stage III: Wednesday 2 PM Eastern; Expository Writing II: Monday/Wednesday at 10 AM and 11 AM Eastern. We prefer to keep the class times as is, but we may be able to move them to fit an interested candidate’s schedule.
Position requires reliable high-speed internet and the ability to comfortably work using a screen for several hours in a row.
Compensation is $4,250 per section for the academic year. Instructors qualify for tuition remission for their own students (a one-to-one match for every section they teach) and retirement after two years employment.

The Well-Trained Mind Academy is seeking a part-time middle school science teacher to teach live, online chemistry classes. Part-time instructors teach 1-6 sections of 15 students. We are currently offering three sections of Chemistry for the Logic Stage. Qualified and interested instructors will be considered for additional courses teaching other courses in their field. Teaching experience required; experience with online instruction a plus. Must be comfortable working with a small focused team, taking academic direction, and cooperating with other science instructors.
This position is part-time; instructors are hired on a course-by-course basis. The applicant should have a background in chemistry or a related science with some teaching experience. BS or BA in the sciences or related field required; a master’s degree or PhD a plus. The classes are currently being offered at the following times: Monday/Wednesday from noon - 12:50 pm, Tuesday/Thursday from noon - 12:50 pm, and Tuesday/Thursday from 3 - 3:50. All times are Eastern. We prefer to keep the class times as is, but we may be able to move them to fit an interested candidate’s schedule.

The Well-Trained Mind Academy is seeking a part-time Arabic instructor to develop and teach live, online classes.
Our world language instructors use a combination of Comprehensible Input and explicit grammatical instruction, fitting with the goals of a classical education. Applicants should be well versed in second language acquisition theory and the ACTFL world-readiness standards for language learning. The successful candidate will be comfortable instructing and evaluating students with a goal of developing proficiency in the target language.
Part-time instructors teach 1-6 sections capped at 15 students. Qualified and interested instructors will be considered for additional courses in areas where they have expertise. Some teaching experience required; experience with online instruction preferred, as is familiarity with The Well-Trained Mind. Must be comfortable working within our established framework for word language offerings. Our instructors work well with a small focused team; they are capable of taking academic direction and working independently, as well as cooperating with other world language instructors. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop and teach additional, higher-level classes.
This position is part-time; instructors are hired on a course-by-course basis. The instructor should have a bachelor’s degree in Arabic or a closely-related field where they can demonstrate they have near-native or native proficiency. A master’s degree or doctorate is a plus.
