Bridge to AoPS Algebra I

Summer course. Bridge to AoPS Algebra I is ideal for students who need extra practice with the skills introduced in Pre-Algebra. The class provides a thorough review of key topics in order to have a smooth transition to Algebra I. Students who completed Art of Problem Solving: Prealgebra may not need this class.

Review topics include: working with variables, dealing with fractions, decimals, solving one-variable equations, exponent laws, ratios and rates, and square roots. Students are expected to come to class prepared to discuss problems and to work individually and in groups to solve assigned problems. Students should expect to spend several hours each week working on assignments for this class. Students should be comfortable using a keyboard to input work. Students may not use a calculator in this class (or in the AoPS Algebra I class). Students must be able to save and upload documents to Blackboard in PDF format.
