Pre-Calculus 3-D Graphing

Recently the Pre-Calculus (Problem-Solving Approach) students learned about polar coordinates and various 3D graphing systems, including rectangular (x, y, z) as well as cylindrical and spherical coordinates. Students explored use of the 3D Desmos Calculator and were challenged to determine, and sketch, what various equations would look like in 3D. Instructor Eileen Arendt says, “Just understanding the systems was very new to the students and they did a fantastic job! They put their knowledge of the unit circle to the test for sure and persevered.”
