Bio
I am honored to be joining the faculty of WTMA for the Fall of 2025. While I have retired from full time teaching I feel very energized to work with the students of WTMA. For the last eight years I have taught all levels of mathematics from the Fifth Grade to AP Calculus. Prior to my teaching career I spent several years as a hedge fund manager in Connecticut, and prior to that I spent 25+ years with Wall Street banking firms in the U.S., Japan and the U.K.
I earned a BA in Finance from Elmhurst University (Illinois) and a Master of Arts in Teaching with Specialization in Mathematics from Montclair State University (New Jersey). I am also a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. During my teaching years I have served as the faculty advisor to a school newspaper, the video club, as well as being an assistant softball coach at the high school level.
On teaching: When working with students in mathematics I like to demonstrate and work with real life applications and problems. Efficiency, process simplification, and problem solving skills are what today’s employers are prioritizing in their hiring. Additionally, I ask students to challenge themselves and each other by offering alternative methods to problem solutions.
