Full-year course. Preparation for Algebra I. This course follows a procedural approach to pre-algebra and focuses on conceptual understanding of pre-algebra, mastery through repetition, problem-solving skills, and engagement with numbers and terms to increase mathematical vocabulary and confidence. Topics include but are not limited to: review of arithmetic skills, integers, rational numbers, solving equations, data analysis, ratios and percent problems, graphing on the coordinate plane, probability, and an introduction to geometry.

      • This text is currently out of print. Students will be provided with copies from the Academy. The cost of the course text is included in the course tuition ($50). 
  • Required Materials:
    • Ruler with centimeters and inches
    • A protractor
    • A compass
    • A basic calculator (for use on some assignments)
    • Graph paper
  • Recommended Materials:
  • Class meets twice per week for 50-55 minutes.
  • Class cap: 15 students.
  • Designed for grades 6-8.
