Pre-Algebra (Traditional Approach)

Full-year course. Preparation for Algebra I. This course, based on Mary Dolciani’s Pre-Algebra: An Accelerated Course, follows a procedural approach to pre-algebra and focuses on conceptual understanding of pre-algebra, mastery through repetition, problem-solving skills, and engagement with numbers and terms to increase mathematical vocabulary and confidence. Topics include but are not limited to: review of arithmetic skills, integers, rational numbers, solving equations, data analysis, ratios and percent problems, graphing on the coordinate plane, probability, and an introduction to geometry.
