Art Exploration I & II
One-semester course with full-year option. Art Exploration is a middle school course designed to help students develop their creativity and their artistic skills while having fun and learning about the world of art. Through hands-on practice and project-based learning, students will explore a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and printmaking, and will learn about the role of color, texture and composition in art making. Students will learn about the elements and principles of art and design, will investigate how to express their ideas through visual art, and will explore the role of art in today’s society. By the end of the course, students will have developed a strong foundation of art-making skills, and will be able to create works of art with confidence.
Please note: This course may be taken individually in the fall or spring semester; a student may enroll in both Art Exploration I in the fall and Art Exploration II in the spring to fulfill the full-year option.
*Only Art Exploration II will be offered during the 2023-2024 school year. Students do not need any art experience to enroll.
