Part-time Online Foreign Language Instructor: Latin

The Well-Trained Mind Academy is growing its foreign language program, and hiring additional Latin instructors to help build the course offerings.  For the 2018-2019 school year, we are hiring a Latin Instructor (to teach 1-2 sections of Latin 1).

The Well-Trained Mind Academy uses a combination of Comprehensible Input and explicit grammatical instruction in foreign language classrooms. The successful candidate should be comfortable speaking Latin and having students respond in Latin. He or she will be given the Latin 1 curriculum and will be working with units developed during the 2017-2018 academic year.

This position is part-time; qualified instructors will be considered for additional courses teaching writing, grammar, and/or history.

Some teaching experience required; experience with online instruction preferred. Must be comfortable working with a small focused team, taking academic direction, and cooperating with other foreign language instructors. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop and teach additional, higher-level classes.

Instructor should have a bachelor’s degree in Latin, Classical Studies, or a related area; a master’s or PhD is a plus.

Pay is competitive. Part-time instructors can live anywhere in the United States or abroad; all classes are listed Eastern Time Zone. Must have reliable high-speed internet.
