Theatre Club for the Rhetoric Stage

One-semester club. The WTMA Theatre Club gives rhetoric stage students the opportunity to explore different types of performance genres including improvisation, monologues, duologues, and radio plays.  For students interested in the technical aspects of theater, there will be opportunities to explore sound design and foley effects.  The club will meet every two weeks for one hour.  Over the course of the semester, students will have the opportunity to:

  • participate in performance-based warm-up games to develop focus; vocal clarity, projection, and range; and ensemble building.
  • learn improvisational techniques to foster creativity and spontaneity as well as to develop character-building and storytelling skills.
  • choose, rehearse, and perform monologues or duologues.
  • choose, rehearse, and perform an all-group radio play at the end of each semester.

WTMA’s Fall and Spring Clubs meet bi-weekly. Meeting times are as listed on the registration page. Instructors will email enrolled students at the start of each semester to confirm the first club meeting date.  After the first meeting, sessions will convene every other week.
